Home and office : Camcorders |
 |
Home-use camcorders have become a necessity for recording everything from children's growth to their sports events. Tamron has been involved in lens production for home camcorders since their earliest use. |
Tamron has been providing lenses for home-use video cameras since the early 1980s. Back then, video meant a home video deck used to record programs from television. As the home video became compact, the home-use video camera appeared. Then the VCR -- Video Cassette Recorder, the camcorder -- that combined a video recording with a camera joined the mainstream
Meanwhile, in television broadcasting, ENG -- Electric News Gathering -- became standard, and image gathering for the news changed from film to the VTR. At this time, many ENG camcorders for broadcasting used the compact, high performance Tamron zoom lenses. |

From experience with camcorders for broadcasting use, Tamron helped and contributed to develop video cameras for home use. Home use camera development progressed rapidly. With the standardization of the 8mm video, the recording part became small enough to fit into the palm of a hand. The lens too became far more compact. Tamron has accumulated technical expertise by designing and manufacturing lenses for television cameras from early stage and refined them further through experiencing technological innovation that replaced the camera's image capture device from camera tubes (a variation of vacuum tube) to semiconductor CCDs making cameras even smaller. Then Tamron build the technical foundation that led to our cerrent lenses for digital cameras and CCTV and ultra compact, high magnification zoom lenses for photography. |
