Tamron Responsibilities As a Company Listed on the 1st Section of TSE
In November 2006, Tamron was listed on the 1st section of the Tokyo
Stock Exchange, entirely thanks to the support given by our customers,
shareholders, employees, and many other stakeholders. On this opportunity,
I would like to express my appreciation for this support. Based on our basic
concept of creating high quality products that satisfy our customers, all
of us at Tamron strive to supply customers with environmentally friendly
products through our efforts to make quality products that are compact and
lightweight. We are committed to continuing to work so that Tamron remains
acknowledged as a company worthy of the name of a 1st section listed
company and a company that responds to the expectations of society. As part
of this approach, in 2007, we established our CSR Implementation & Administration
Board to develop and promote management based on corporate social
responsibility. In line with the approach from an organizational perspective,
all directors and employees are now expected to review their own job
responsibilities from the CSR perspective so that our whole company pursues
management for further growth while discharging CSR.
Tamron’s CSR
The Tamron managerial creed advocates a basic philosophy of pursuing
company development and growth based on profits derived from customer
satisfaction and pleasure, for realizing the happiness of our shareholders
and employees. In order to realize this basic philosophy, Tamron defines
CSR as working to contribute to our economy, society, and environment
by using our lenses, technology, and more to create eyes for industry. Our
entire group of companies including our factories and sales subsidiaries
abroad is now committed to pursuing and promoting management based on
CSR. For example, we regard photographic lenses as products offering the
pleasure of photography and as devices to address and focus on social and
environmental problems. On-vehicle lenses and surveillance camera lenses
contribute to the safety and security of society. Our engineers are committed
to paying sufficient attention to environmental impact in designing and
making lenses in order to contribute to environmental conservation. At
Tamron, we believe think CSR can be defined as working to serve as a
good corporate citizen through lenses. CSR is an essential element for
Tamron to enjoy sustainable growth. We at Tamron have so far pursued
management based on corporate governance, compliance, risk management,
environmental protection, and quality management. From now on, we will
strive to further contribute to society, while working even harder to pursue
such aspects as mentioned already.
For Continuing to Be a Company Highly Regarded by All Stakeholders
We are in a nascent stage when it comes to CSR management. We therefore
wish to strengthen dialogue with our stakeholders and continue to improve
our CSR structure as our business operations and society demand. We
believe that, through such efforts, Tamron can continue to be a company
that is highly regarded by stakeholders.
In compiling this Environmental & Social Report 2007, we tried to
incorporate as much information as possible related to economic and social
aspects in addition to information on environmental aspects. We would
greatly appreciate your unreserved opinion for how we can further improve
our CSR.
