State of Achievement of Environmental Objectives and Targets for 2006
Each factory established objectives and targets for enhancing environmentally-friendly designs, saving energy and resources, reducing industrial waste, recycling resources, promoting green purchasing, and preventing environmental contamination, working throughout 2006 to reach these objectives and targets.

Environmental Objectives & Targets for 2006 and Achievement Ratios
In 2006, we were unable to reach our targets for four items. Firstly, there was delay in the plan to introduce LCA instruments for use in design operations at Omiya Head Office. As a result, we could not reach our target for energy saving in manufacturing operations. We will review the target and aim to reflect the target thus reviewed in our design and manufacturing operations.
Secondly , Hirosaki Factory set its power consumption in 2005 as the target for 2006, but power consumption rose 6.2%. Since CO2 reduction is set as an environmental objective in the mid-range plan to start in 2007, Hirosaki Factory will work on reducing electric power consumption to eventually reduce CO2 emissions.
Thirdly, in the course of our studying zero emissions, we set a recycling ratio of 98% or more to define the term zero emissions at Tamron. However, we were unable to proceed further and work out concrete measures as to how we should enhance our current recycling ratio in order to eventually reach our target. In 2007 and beyond, we will establish concrete measures to enhance our recycling ratio under the mid-range objectives and targets, in order to reach our target.
At Tamron Optical (Foshan), despite the basic policy of eliminating the use of harmful substances in line with the Environment-related Substance Management Regulations, there was one case of material procurement not in accordance with the list of specified materials. In order to prevent similar cases in the future, we reviewed our material procurement procedures on a company-wide scale.
In view of the numerical targets for 2006 being
set at practical levels, there was only one failure to reach our numerical targets, which was at Hirosaki Factory. We will continue to work on establishing proper numerical targets to enable us to precisely grasp progress so we may promote environmental management further, a task for us for 2007 and beyond.

Environmental Objectives and Targets for 2007
From 2007 and beyond, each factory will work on achieving the Environmental Objectives and Targets common to the group of companies. Relationships between environmental objectives for 2006 and those for 2007 are as follows. (Refer to P12 on environmental objectives and targets after 2007.)

1.
Integrating environmental management and quality management systems, integrating ISO systems adopted at Omiya Head Office and three factories in Aomori and proper management of chemical substances were added as new environmental objectives of the company.
2.
Tamron will continue to work on promoting the DfE (Design for Environment) approach. From 2007, Tamron will also focus on increasing the use of recycled materials in products and utilizing LCA (Life Cycle Assessment).
3.
Tamron will also continue to work on promoting energy- and resource-saving as a part of CO2 emissions reduction.
4.
Tamron will also work on reducing industrial waste and promoting recycling for eventually attaining zero industrial waste emissions in the future.
5.
From the viewpoint of preventing environmental contamination,Tamron will focuson countermeasures against groundwater contamination at Omiya Head Office and prevention of environmental contamination accidents.
