Since the size of full-size format is different from the APS-C size imager, scopes captured are different even when focal lengths are the same (i.e., angles of view differ).
The AF17-50mm Di-II is designed to have shorter focal lengths to achieve optimum angles of view in its wide-angle side.

Image Circle for Di-II Lenses The Tamron Di II lens series is exclusively for digital SLR cameras with APS-C size sensors that are smaller than those that are used with 35mm film. By adopting an optical system that has been optimized for the APS-C size image circle, Tamron has achieved a user-friendly angle of view and groundbreaking spec, while at the same time producing a light, compact lens with excellent mobility.

* Photographs taken with this lens attached to a 35mm format camera will result in dark outer edges (vignetting will occur). For this reason, please be aware that this lens may not be used on 35mm film SLR cameras or digital SLR cameras with an image sensor larger than the APS-C size.
