| Tamron has announced the successful development of Model NE051, an ultra-compact, high-performance and IR-compatible lens boasting an unprecedented ultra large zoom ratio of 35X to satisfy the outdoor needs of high-end speed-dome type surveillance cameras. |

High-end speed-dome type surveillance cameras* that are used in many security systems at present are developed and used primarily for surveillance indoors at large-sized facilities such as department stores, shopping malls. However, the increased need for stronger security systems in various fields has recently led to the use of speed-dome type surveillance cameras outdoors, for such applications as monitoring in parking lots, street surveillance, traffic surveillance, vehicle licence plate recording and so on. Tamron's designers took on the difficult task of developing high-power zoom lenses that satisfy such requirements in outdoor applications and have successfully developed the NE051 that provides an amazingly high zoom ratio of 35X while accommodating it in a housing almost equal to that of a 25X zoom lens. The newly developed NE051 lens enables the user to perform outdoor surveillance with a 35X zoom ratio, able to fit into speed dome camera.
*Speed-dome type surveillance cameras are ones capable of monitoring ambient conditions in 360 degrees at high speeds with panning/tilting functions.
