Model B008 Wins the Digital Camera Grand-Prix 2011 Summer
in "Grand Gold Award ( Interchangeable Lens for DSLR)"
and "Extra Award for Technology"

Tamron 60th anniversary model
World痴 smallest and lightest*1 15x zoom lens
for digital SLR cameras (APS-C size)

Optical equipment manufacturer Tamron Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Saitama City, Japan / President and CEO: Morio Ono) has won the Comprehensive Gold Award in the interchangeable lens category as well as the Technology Award of the 2011 Summer Digital Camera Grand Prix for its 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD*2 (Model B008). That lens is the world痴 smallest and lightest 15x zoom lens.

Reason for winning award (from circumstances behind presentation of the award)

Tamron is very good at all-in-one lenses with high zoom ratios. One can appreciate the ability to easily carry around the lens in day-to-day situations even though it sports 15x zoom that covers the 35 mm equivalent of 28-419 mm. Its Piezo Drive (PZD), a new autofocus drive method, achieves a high level of quietness and quick autofocusing. The vibration compensation (VC) image stabilization mechanism is four stops (converted to shutter speed) and provides sufficient stabilization effect. While the price may seem slightly high, it is of an acceptable level when you consider that one lens can pretty much cover a wide range of expressions. This is an attractive all-in-one lens that can handle a wide range of uses from travel through landscape, snapshots, and portraits.
